Mike from Rippa USA Sales shares a simple trick, and explains why it works with any excavator, skid steer or mini skid steer, not just Rippa.</font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222"><br></font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222">STEP 1: RELAX THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM</font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222"><br></font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222">Trapped pressure is what makes couplers hard to push on. Set the attachment on the ground, shut the machine off or turn the hydraulic pump off, and move the control levers so the pressure in the lines is released. This works on any brand of equipment.</font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222"><br></font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222">STEP 2: USE A QUICK GRIP CLAMP</font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222"><br></font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222">If the coupler still will not connect, use a quick release bar clamp.</font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222"><br></font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222">- Grab the edge of the coupler with the clamp and squeeze the trigger to push it on.</font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222">- Releasing is easy: just squeeze the release.</font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222">- A smaller clamp is easier to handle. They cost only a few dollars at a hardware store, so buy a good brand when they are on sale.</font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222"><br></font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222">WHY RELIEVING PRESSURE MATTERS</font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222"><br></font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222">Every hydraulic cylinder has at least two lines: one to send oil to it and one to pull oil back. It is a closed system, so pressure can stay trapped in the lines. Forcing a coupler against that pressure can stress the seals inside the cylinders, so relax the system first.</font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222"><br></font></p><p style="text-align:left;"><font color="#222222">Do you have a favorite trick for stubborn quick connects?
