Mike takes a first look at the newest Rippa model at the Boyd dealership, the RL06. This is the new version with an extending boom, which the older version doesn't have.
HIGHLIGHTS
- About 4 feet of extension travel. Raised fully and extended, pin height is about 11 feet, measured the same way as for skid steers.
- Height to the top of the seat is 59 inches with the canopy removed (a few bolts). With the canopy on, it is about 72 inches because of the hydraulics.
- Wheels, with a diesel engine. About 500 lb of counterweight, and an on-board computer screen like the R15.
- Standard loader-style attachment plate, not the skid steer plate. As on all our machines, diverter valves are added so you can plug in an attachment and flip the valve.
- Fast. Mike says it will blow you away compared with the typically slow hydraulic machines, and is our fastest machine. He plans a race against a two-speed RS06.
- Solid roof, mirrors, warning light, big solid differential, handbrake, adjustable steering column, and a fold-down handlebar that serves as a safety rest.
- A cab isn't available yet but is coming, and the machine is pre-wired for the fan, wipers and extra lights.
