Mike from Rippa USA Sales shows what to do if you ever need to replace the display computer on a Rippa R18, R22 or R32 mini excavator, whether it is a warranty replacement or a new unit you buy.
WHAT YOU GET
The replacement arrives as a complete assembly with a long wiring harness.
THE STEPS
1. Take a picture of how the old computer and its wires look before you touch anything.
2. Remove the one piece side panel. It is held by three bolts.
3. Disconnect the old computer and unbolt it. The two mounting screws are not the same size, so keep track of which goes where.
4. Route the new wiring harness through the machine. In the video, the old harness could not be pulled back through the opening, so it was cut to fish the new one through. Tape the new harness to a pull wire, push it through, and coil the extra length neatly.
5. Plug in the four connectors. They are color coded, so match the colors to your before photo.
6. Bolt the new computer in place and refit the side panel.
After replacing the computer you may also need to set the language and update the firmware. See our firmware update posts.
