People often ask how high a mini skid steer can dump. Mike from Rippa USA Sales explains why the only number that matters is the pin height, using the Rippa RS06 with its Kubota D1105 engine.
WHAT IS PIN HEIGHT?
The bucket rotates on a pin at the end of the lift arms. With the arms fully raised, that pin does not change height when you curl the bucket up or down. So how high you can dump is the pin height, minus the angle and lip of the bucket.
HOW TO FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU CAN DUMP INTO
- Measure the pin height with a tape measure from the ground to the pin. On the RS06 in the video it measured about 85 inches.
- Subtract a couple of inches so the bucket clears the wall of a dump trailer or truck bed, then dump over it.
- Compare that to the wall height of the trailer or hopper you want to load.
NEED MORE REACH?
Rippa offers a bucket with longer arms (an extended version) that gives another foot and a half to two feet of reach. Ask us for the details for your model.
