Mike from Rippa USA Sales takes a close look at the operator platform on the Rippa RS06 mini skid steer, with an RS03 parked next to it for comparison.
WHAT MAKES THE RS06 PLATFORM DIFFERENT
- The RS06 operator platform rides on four heavy duty springs, so when you stand on it you are fully supported instead of getting beaten up by every bump.
- Mike is 6 foot 1 and about 250 lb. Even leaning back as far as he can with both feet off the ground, the springs do not come close to bottoming out.
- The springs absorb the small dips and ruts you hit while driving, which makes for a much smoother ride.
- Mike pulled the springs out of one platform to show what is underneath: just a steel post with four holes where the springs sit. Without the springs you would bounce on every bump.
RS03 COMPARISON
- The RS03 platform is basically fixed in place, with no springs. It can move a little, but it does not give the cushioned ride of the RS06.
- The RS03 also uses a different throttle control and controls layout than the RS06.
MIKE'S SUGGESTIONS TO THE FACTORY
- Use consistent controls and sensors across the whole line.
- Add the ability to mount counterweight, around 100 lb on each side, to help lift a little more without being as front heavy.
